Laughter Yoga Wednesday, November 28th 5:30-6:15pm by donation
When is the last time you had a good laugh? In a Laughter Yoga class, we use brief laughter games to stimulate and trigger laughter. The games can be done seated or standing and moving around. We start off "faking it," and through eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The most important outcome is to let go, relax, and have fun with the experience. This triggers the “feel good” chemicals to release into the body. By the time the session ends, the anxiety, stress, and burdens of the day all dissolve in the peals of laughter and fun. Remember: Laughter is the Best Medicine.

Chakra Opening Workshop Saturday, Dec 1st 2:00-4:00pm $25
This workshop will explore the theory of the chakra system including how it is related to the physical body as well as energetic sheaths, and how yoga practices can help to keep these energetic centers open to promote healing and health. We will move through asanas (physical postures), apply different mudras (hand positions/symbols), and practice pranayama exercises (breath-work) to help release any energetic blockages and allow prana (vital energy/Chi) to move freely through the body.

Pilates Fundamentals w/ Kimberly Moscatello, December 2, 12:30-2:30 $18
Learn the history and principles of one of the oldest and most widely practiced exercise methods in the world. Time will be spent learning the fundamentals of Pilates movement and exercises at different strength levels for a safe and effective individual practice. Materials and resistance bands will be provided. Please bring a mat and full sized towel.
Kimberly Moscatello has been practicing Pilates since 2003 and graduated from the Regeneration Institute of Pilates in 2010 with a 100-hour teaching certification. Recognized by Pilates Academy International, her training includes beginner thru advanced classical matwork and props as well as working with prenatal/postnatal and special injury clients. The mission of her company "Pilates Within Reach" is to show that Pilates can change, rework, and benefit any body regardless of shape, size, or age.

Asana Workshop Sunday, Dec 9 1:00-3:00pm $25
Come learn to deepen your practice with this 2 hour asana workshop! In class, we don't always have time to work on refining certain more challenging poses. This workshop will focus on common problems and mistakes that can cause injury. Using props, you will be shown the proper alignment of many main poses, as well as some alternative suggestions for injuries or ailments. This will not be a "flow" class, but will be an open discussion. The instructor will attempt to address any poses or problems you may have as the class progresses. Anyone at any level will benefit from this workshop.

The last 10 days have been a whirlwind for the Jersey Shore and all along the northeastern coast. When driving through your neighborhood and town or watching the news it is shocking to see the devastation that occurred during and after Hurricane Sandy. As we process what happened and deal with the sadness, we are also grappling with the significant changes to our normal routines. Across the community people have lost loves ones, theirs homes, jobs; and others are dealing with the changes that come along with living without electricity, opening homes to family and friends, having children out of school; and we are all working nonstop to restore and rebuild. This is a challenging and exhausting time and all of our lives have been impacted.
Some days it is difficult to remain positive and optimistic, this is when our yoga practice (off the mat) is most valuable. Much of our suffering is related to material and emotional attachments. We have no control over the weather or the actions of others but we can control how we respond to challenges and our own behavior. Take the time to breathe and clear your mind, even if it’s only for a few minutes. When we first center and love ourselves we increase our capacity to help others.

Meaningful Messages Yoga is here to support you and our community. As of Thursday, November 8 we are open for classes. The schedule is slightly revised so please review it on our website and note the following changes:
·      Saturday Active Yoga with Rebecca will now be held from 10:00-11:15am
·      Thursday Morning Rise and Shine Yoga Chi with Mary 9:00-10:15am is temporarily off the schedule
·      Heather will be teaching Wednesday Morning Yoga 9:00-10:15am

We will also be collecting clothing, gift cards, and food to donate to the Visitation Church so these items can be distributed in Brick and surrounding areas.
